Customer

Oracle Corporation is an American multinational computer technology corporation headquartered in Redwood Shores, California. The company sells database software and technology, cloud engineered systems, and enterprise software products—particularly its own brands of database management systems. In 2019, Oracle was the second largest software company by revenue and market capitalization. The company also develops and builds tools for database development and systems of middle-tier software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, Human Capital Management (HCM) software, customer relationship management (CRM) software, and supply chain management (SCM) software.

Project Summary & Sciens Scope

Oracle had eight buildings with obsolete fire systems from three different manufacturers. This put them at risk of system failure, which would force them into fire watch – where a fire alarm system is deemed not functional and staff has to walk every floor every hour to monitor any potential fire-related issues. Sciens helped bring them up to code with new flexible systems that can be expanded upon, as well as replacement of obsolete panels. In total we installed nearly 5,000 devices. Since 2006, Sciens has handled seven projects for Oracle.

Outcome

These buildings are now equipped with fully code-compliant fire alarm systems providing fire protection for occupants, including the campus’s 135,000 employees. Eventually, Sciens will help connect all buildings into one fire alarm system and perform test and inspect maintenance on every floor of each building to ensure systems remain compliant and occupants are kept safe.
